Intel ISEF

The Intel ISEF is one of the most prestigious science competitions for high school students to showcase their independent research.

Intel STS

Varies

Intel STS is the nation’s most prestigious science research competition for high school seniors. Participants are the brightest young minds in STEM who have completed independent science research projects. Application opens on 8/1/13No registration. Transcripts/ Recommendations due: 12/6/13

FIRST Robotics Competition

NASA What If Competition

The NASA What If Competition encourages high school students to explore green propulsion through a fun design challenge. One challenge included designing the most efficient vehicle propulsion system using soda and candy. 3/8/14*

TEAMS Competition

TEAMS is an annual competition for high school students to collaborate in teams to solve real-world engineering challenges. Part 1 comprises of 8 multiple-choice questions that must be completed in 90 minutes, while Part 2 involves 8 short essay responses to be completed in 90 minutes. Tech Challenge

Tech Museum, San Jose CA

The Tech Challenge is an annual team design challenge for students in grades 5-12. Participants will work in teams of 2 to 6 students to apply their academic knowledge of science and engineering to solve real-world problems. This is a fun competition that tests anyone’s creativity and design skills. No prior experience necessary! Register before due date 4/20

Real World Design Challenge (RWDC)

The Real World Design Challenge is an annual competition that gives high school students the opportunity to work on real world engineering challenges. Teachers will be given several engineering resources, and teams of 3-7 students will use these resources to address an engineering challenge. The first round involves a competition for a state-level Governor’s Cup, and winning teams will participate in the national finals in Washington D.C. 10/25/14*

Verizon Innovative App Challenge

The Verizon Innovative App Challenge is a competition for high school students to submit an original mobile app concept to address problems in the community.
